Lufkin man arrested after leading police on chase

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man is in jail following a chase. According to police, it happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Lakeview Street when officers tried to stop the driver.

Marquiez Jackson, 24, was driving a 2007 Chevy Sedan when police tried to pull him over for driving without a light.

Sergeant Anthony Mitchon, with the Lufkin police department said Jackson drove to the 500 block of North Avenue.

Jackson was arrested for driving without a license and evading arrest.

Mitchon said the vehicle had a strong odor of marijuana, however no narcotics were found.

Jackson bond is set at $5,500.
