TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - An 86-year-old Warren man who was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler on US Highway 69 in Hillister died at a Houston hospital Sunday.
Trooper Stephanie Davis, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Public Safety said that Earl Ray Seals died at Hermann Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries he suffered in the wreck, which occurred at about 11:15 a.m. on Friday near FM 1013 in Hillister.
According to a press release, Jose Seledon, 52, of Onalaska, was driving a 1996 Peterbilt north on US 69 when Seals, who was driving a 2009 Ford pickup, pulled out in front of the 18-wheeler and was struck.
Both vehicles traveled across the southbound lanes of US 69 before they came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the highway.
The press release stated that Seals was in serious condition when he was airlifted to Hermann Memorial by helicopter. Seledon was not injured in the crash.
US 69 near FM 1013 was closed in both directions until the wrecked vehicles were removed from the scene.
