ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested a 17-year-old man on Friday in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a girl at the Central High School campus located on US Highway 69 on May 4.
Hakim Medlock was arrested and charged with second-degree felony sexual assault of a child on May 6. He posted an unspecified bail amount and was released from the jail later that day.
According to the arrest affidavit, the ACSO detective assigned to the case received word that deputies made contact with an underage girl at CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial about an alleged sexual assault that occurred earlier that day. He was also told that the girl was going to be taken to Harold's House for a forensic interview and a sexual assault nurse examination.
The detective observed the girl's interview. During the interview, the girl said that after she arrived at the Central High School campus at about 7:20 a.m. on the morning of May 4, Medlock contacted her and told her to meet him at the gym.
When the girl did so, Medlock grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her into the boys bathroom, the affidavit stated. The girl told the interviewer that even though she told Medlock she wanted to leave, he eventually sexually assaulted her.
The girl told the interviewer they were not in a dating relationship.
According to the affidavit, the SANE exam determined that the girl had injuries consistent with the sexual assault she described to the interviewer at Harold's House.
On May 5, the ACSO detective obtained a copy of the surveillance footage from Central ISD. While the video only showed the area leading into the gym and not the bathroom itself, it did appear to back up the girl's story, the affidavit stated.
The detective then tried to make contact with Medlock and the 17-year-old's friend at their residence. He traveled to their home, but he wasn't able to make contact with them. The friend also didn't answer when the detective tried to call his phone number.
When the detective got Medlock on the phone, the suspect told the him he didn't have to speak to him and hung up after he stated he didn't have a "story' to tell the detective, the affidavit stated.
