NACOGDOCHES, TX (Press Release)- Stephen F. Austin head football coach Clint Conque today announced four additions to the Lumberjack football program. Transfer punter Michael Crowder, wide receiver Trae Hart and safety Alfred Pullom and freshman linebacker Fre'Zarian Harrison will join the program this summer and begin competing for the Lumberjacks in 2016.
"We're very excited about these four additions and feel they help fill some needs as we head into 2016," Conque said. "In addition to the depth and the competition they add, each of them come from successful backgrounds and will help add to the winning culture. We're looking forward to getting them on campus and getting them integrated into the program."
Crowder heads to Nacogdoches after spending the last two years at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the Buffaloes primary kicking specialist, punting 78 times with a 40.7 average and a long of 65 yards while also hitting eight of 13 field goal attempts, including a long of 45 yards.
A native of Pineville, Louisiana, Crowder was a two year letterwinner at Pineville High School. He played multiple positions for the Rebels, including wide receiver, running back, defensive back and punter, being named a second team all-district selection as a wide receiver as a senior.
Hart joins the Lumberjacks after spending two seasons at Purdue, appearing in 18 games with four starts for the Boilermakers. Hart registered 16 catches for 111 yards in his two season for the Big Ten school while also appearing on the Purdue special teams units, seeing action against a handful of nationally-ranked programs.
A native of Mesquite, Hart was a two year letterwinner at First Baptist Academy of Dallas, playing a key role in helping lead the Saints to a 14-0 record and a state championship as a senior. A three star recruit, Hart posted 108 catches for 2,044 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior while averaging 19.1 yards per catch as a senior.
Pullom comes to SFA after spending three seasons at Baylor, redshirting in 2013 before playing in 22 games for the Bears. He registered 25 tackles for the Bears, including 19 in 2014 to help lead Baylor to the Big 12 championship, while also recording his first interception in the Cotton Bowl against seventh-ranked Michigan State at AT&T Stadium.
A three year letterwinner at Cypress Woods High School, Pullow was a two-time second team all-district selection in the defensive backfield. He posted a career-best 80 tackles and three interceptions as a junior before helping lead the Wildcats to a 9-3 overall record and an appearance in the area finals as a senior.
Harrison is a late addition to Conque's 2016 signing class coming off an impressive prep career at Pittsburg High School. A two year letterwinner for the Pirates, Harrison was named the district's Defensive MVP after recording 115 tackles as a senior, including 33 tackles for loss with nine sacks.
A two star recruit by 247 sports, Harrison helped lead Pittsburg to a 10-2 record in 2015, including a 4-1 mark in district play, and was an honorable mention all-state selection.
The addition of the three new Lumberjacks helps fill needs at each of their respective positions as the wide receiver, linebacker and defensive secondary were areas hit hard by graduation and injuries in 2015. The trio will all arrive on campus during the summer to participate in team activities before the start of fall camp in August.
SFA is now just 115 days from the season opener at Texas Tech on September 3rd. The `Jacks will play five home games at Homer Bryce Stadium this fall, including Southland Conference rivals Northwestern State, Central Arkansas, Southeastern Louisiana and Abilene Christian.
Season tickets for 2016 Lumberjack football can be ordered by calling the SFA Ticket Office at (936) 468-JACK (5225).
