NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Snakes gathered shrills screams at Raguet Elementary, but the teddy bears attached to warm blankets bring nothing but "oohs and ahhs" from students.

They're among the items filling 54 “Sweet Cases Raguet Elementary students purchased, decorated and filled for foster children.

"During a two-week period, they raised over $1,400 to support foster children,” said Lindsey Turner, an instructional coordinator at Raguet Elementary. “When children move from foster care to foster care, they're given two trash bags and as a school, we decided that was unacceptable for children to move from home to home with a trash bag. And now we have developed Sweet Cases for them.”

The Sweet Cases are filled with a blanket, hygiene items, a coloring book, and crayons.

They will be delivered to the Nacogdoches Rainbow Room, a foster child supply room on Friday.
