ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - After calling for a special meeting earlier in the week, the Zavalla ISD school board has named Zavalla High School Principal Ricky Oliver as the district's interim superintendent.
According to board president Greg Machann, Oliver will step into the position starting Monday. One Wednesday, Michael Woodard confirmed he would be stepping down as superintendent after taking the position two years earlier. In a written statement the district said the school board and Woodard reached an agreement that allowed Woodard to pursue other interests and permitted the board to look at hiring another superintendent.
Machann said Oliver will remain principal at the high school.
