LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin head soccer Russell Shaw will retire after 30 years coaching for the Panthers.
Shaw's most notable season was when he brought Lufkin their first-ever boys soccer state championship in 2015.
He was also named the 2015 National Coach of the Year Winter Season, the 2015 Texas State Coach of the Year, a two-time Region II Coach of the Year and six-time District Coach of the Year. Russell has also been named the Texas High School All-Star Game Coach twice.
In the last 17 seasons, Shaw has made 15 playoff appearances. Shaw has coached a total of 646 games and has finished out 339 wins, 97 draws and 210 loses.
Shaw will have a retirement party at the library in Lufkin High School Tuesday. The party will run from 2:45- 4:30 p.m.
