NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

The youth work organization, UM Army, has begun its summer repair and renovations projects for communities across Texas.

A team from College Station is in Nacogdoches this week working at six locations and one in Timpson.

At this site, workers are building a fence for 93-year-old Alene Stone.

Porches, siding, painting, wheelchair ramp construction, and floor repairs are on other worklists.
Most sites were selected by the Nacogdoches Police Department.

"There's one college camp for UM Army for the summer, and it's the very first camp,” said Steve Godby, a UM Army camp leader. “These kids are out fixing to go into their jobs for the summer or take college classes for the summer, so this is their break. And then the high school kids start up in another couple of weeks when they get out of school."

This particular UM Army is hosted by First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches.
