TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Thursday morning rains have Tyler County emergency officials paying close attention to the Neches River south of Dam B.

According to Emergency Management Coordinator Dale Freeman, The Army Corps of Engineers has opened the flood gates on the dam three additional feet.

"The gates are now opened to 41 total feet, Freeman said. "We expect the river to rise another 2 feet. That would bring us up to around 75 feet."

Freeman said if the area continues to see significant rain, the gates could be opened more and the river could continue to rise.

"We have to wait to see what the weather does. If Lake Steinhagen continues to rise we will have to let more water out."

Lake Steinhagen is sitting around 83 feet. The areas immediately effected are areas around Town Bluff and Barlow Estates. The areas are still under a mandatory evacuation from lats weeks rain. A red Cross shelter has been set up at True Vine Church in Doucette.
