TRINITY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A joint effort involving the Trinity County Sheriff's Office, the Trinity Police Department, the Groveton Police Department, and all Trinity County constable offices to ensure that all of the sex offenders in the county are in compliance has resulted in four felony arrests.
One registered sex offender in Trinity County is still at large.
According to a press release, the joint effort is designed to make sure that all the registered sex offenders in Trinity County are in compliance with Chapter 62 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedures.
"A person who has a reportable conviction or adjudication, or who is required to register as a condition of parole, release to mandatory supervision, or community supervision shall register," the press release stated. "The person shall register with the local enforcement authority anywhere the person resides or intends to reside for more than seven days."
Some of the requirements include reporting the sex offender's current address, vehicles driven by the sex offender, any phone numbers or internet identifiers, and place of employment. The sex offender compliance checks are done regularly and at random.
Trinity County law enforcement agencies have been conducting numerous sex offender compliance checks over the last month," the press release stated. "Out of the 70 sex offenders currently registered in Trinity County, six offenders have been found out of compliance, and felony warrants have been issued for their arrest."
As a result of the joint effort, Brandon Dunaway, Jerry Foster III, Gloria Killough, David Windham and Michael Fleming have been arrested and charged with sex offender noncompliance. One registered sex offender, Danny Donovan, is still at large.
Anyone with any information on the two registered sex offenders who are still at large or any other sex offenders should call the Trinity County Sheriff's Office at (936) 642-1424.
