LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An army of 45 students from across Texas has converged on Angelina County for five days of service projects.
They are part of the UM Army, a youth camp project of the United Methodist Church. The students come from Huntington UMC, Atlanta UMC, FUMC Pasadena, Grace Crossing UMC of Longview, and Fulshear UMC are all staying in Diboll and then branching out across the county for service projects.
"It is just satisfying to see that you get to be a big help in someone's life," Pasadena youth Rhianna Barber said.
The group will be in town until the end of the week working on everything from installing wheelchair ramps to painting houses.
"Its a lot of work and a lot of time but it is worth it to see the look on the client's face when the project is finished."
