Nacogdoches Native Clint Dempsey records 50th career international goal against Costa Rica
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS- In a must-win game for the United States in Copa America group play Tuesday night, Nacogdoches native Clint Dempsey was able to start the game on a winning note.
Dempsey beautifully placed his penalty kick low and to the right corner, giving the U.S. a 1-0 jump on Costa Rica.
This was not any ordinary goal. The penalty kick made for Dempsey's 50th career international goal of his career. Dempsey now joins Landon Donovan as the only American men with 50 international goals. Dempsey is seven goals away from tying Donovan.
The U.S. men’s national team went on the beat Costa Rica 4-0. The victory became the largest win margin the team has ever had against Costa Rica.
