LUFKIN, TX (Press Release)- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced this week that Angelina College’s Taylor Davis has been named 2nd Team All-American.
The latest honor caps quite a rookie season for the freshman from Nederland. Not only did Davis earn 1st Team All-Region honors, but the slugging designated player broke the individual single-season home run record at Angelina College with 17 round-trippers – tops among Region XIV hitters. Davis finished the season with a .357 batting average, a .702 slugging percentage and 51 runs batted in.
Davis posted four multi-home run games throughout the season, helping lead the Lady Roadrunners into the conference tournament.
Davis’ place on the list makes her the third Lady Roadrunner softball player in the past three years to earn All-American honors under coaches Mark and Barbi Mattson. She was a member of the Beaumont Enterprise Gold team while playing for Nederland High School.
Davis’ parents are Robin and Bill Davis of Nederland.
