Affidavit: Lufkin man slapped disabled woman, put hands around her throat

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested a 59-year-old man earlier this week in connection to allegations that he slapped a 56-year-old disabled woman and then put his hands around her neck.

Willie George Settler, of Lufkin, was booked into the Angelia County Jail on June 5 on a third-degree felony injured to the disabled charge. He was released from the jail on Thursday after he posted a bail amount of $5,000.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lufkin police officers were dispatched out to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Old Gobbler's Knob at about 4:56 p.m. on June 5. When they arrived on the scene, the victim told police that Settler had slapped her on both sides of the face multiple times and put his hands around her neck "as if he were trying to choke her," the affidavit stated.

The LPD officers noticed that the woman had a bloody nose. Settler allegedly admitted to assaulting the woman.

Settler was arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
