NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A 60-year-old Fayetteville, Arkansas man died as a result of his injuries at Parkland Hospital in Dallas Sunday in the wake of a three-vehicle wreck that occurred on US Highway 59 about six miles north of Nacogdoches on Friday.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the man was identified as Gerald Dee Drummond.
The preliminary accident report indicates that the wreck occurred at about 6 p.m. on June 10. A 2012 Dodge van driven by Gerald Dee Drummond failed to yield the right-of-way from FM 2864 and was struck by a southbound 2013 Honda CRV driven by Rita Rosa Steier, 56, of Timpson, the press release stated.
At that point, the Dodge van struck a 2012 Ford pickup driven by Jake Crisp, 16, of Nacogdoches, that had been stopped in the turn lane on US 59, so the driver could turn onto FM 2864.
Sherry Drummond, the 62-year-old passenger in the Dodge van, was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released.
Steier was also taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, treated for her injuries, and released. Crisp was not injured in the crash, according to the press release.
The wreck remains under investigation at this time.
