LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Lufkin Police Department arrested a 36-year-old Trinity man Monday in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl multiple times, starting when she was about six years old.
Tivirus Deshun Craft Sr. is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a first-degree felony continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 charge. No bail amount has been set at this time.
According to the arrest affidavit, a Lufkin PD detective was present when a Harold's House forensic interviewer talked to the 10-year-old victim on Oct. 5, 2015. The girl's father made the initial outcry about Craft's alleged sexual abuse of his daughter. The girl's father told police that his daughter told him that Craft had touched her inappropriately numerous times over the last three years.
The affidavit stated that the girl's father told the detective his daughter told him that Craft had touched her arm, breast, and "private area" and that he had sexually assaulted her.
During the interview, the girl explained that she knew what sexual abuse meant. The alleged victim said that Craft started by kissing her on the mouth and progressed to touching her "private part," the affidavit stated.
Later, the little girl said the sexual abuse occurred in Trinity. The alleged victim told the forensic interviewer that her first memory of Craft molesting her was when she was about six years old. She said Craft came into her room and put her on top of him, the affidavit stated.
According to the affidavit, the girl told the interviewer that the next incident of sexual abuse occurred in May of 2015. She said that after Craft invited her into his room, he kissed her, took her clothes off, and sexually assaulted her, the affidavit stated.
The third incident allegedly occurred on Sept. 30, 2015. Craft again invited the girl into his room again and started kissing her.
The little girl told the forensic interviewer that Craft told her not to tell anyone and that she needed to keep what had happened a secret, the affidavit stated. She allegedly told the interviewer that the various types of sexual abuse happened at least five or six times.
An exam by a sexual assault nurse examiner revealed that the girl had healed trauma that was consistent with the allegations of sexual abuse and that it was consistent with the timeframe the girl talked about, the affidavit stated.
Craft gave a statement to the Lufkin Police Department on Oct. 13, 2015. The affidavit stated he was "very adamant" that he didn't commit the acts the girl accused him of doing.
The LPD investigator obtained an arrest warrant for Craft on Jan. 5.
