ARLINGTON, TX- Darren McFadden is not getting a great start to the 2016 season. The running back had surgery Tuesday on a broken right elbow.
The timetable for the Dallas Cowboys return could be as late as the season opener against the New York Giants September 11th.
McFadden broke his elbow over the Memorial Day holiday when he fell trying not to drop his cell phone.
"Darren McFadden hurt his elbow in an accident at home over Memorial Day weekend. He came back in and practiced last week, but it still bothered him," said head coach Jason Garrett in his press conference. "McFadden told our training staff at the end of the week it hurt, and then in the physical yesterday it was determined he had a break in his elbow. He actually had surgery on that this morning and he'll be out at least a couple months. We do anticipate seeing him at some point in training camp."
