On Father’s Day, Dads across East Texas were showered with gifts and love as a thank you for all of the sacrifices they make every day.

A Nacogdoches dad is continuing to follow his dreams of becoming a rapper while balancing a full time job, and two kids.

“Once they were born it all made sense to me, life in general made sense,” Steven Molanders said.

Growing up Molanders didn’t have his father, however his uncle Kenneth took on that role.

“He was my role model, and my guidance, because I wasn’t really close to my father,” Molanders said. “He made me realize this is how it’s supposed to be with your kids. He taught me how to be a good man and good father.”

Molanders has been chasing his dream of being a rapper for 13 years, but had to turn things around when he had kids of his own.

“It’s more of an emotional struggle then anything,” Molanders said.

Now that his wife doesn’t work, he became super dad, and learned how to juggle a full time job, two kids, and then making his dream a reality.

“For me it was the best thing to ever happen to me,” Molanders said referring to the birth of his children. “It just gives me a different purpose in life. It made me feel like I had a purpose.”

Even on Father’s day, he said he’ll share the spotlight with his wife.

“Moms definitely do put in the work, like my wife staying home, and doing the stay at home mom thing, it’s actually a full time job,” Molanders said. “It’s actually more than that. I’ve done that, I’ve took some time off and stayed at the house and was ready to go do something. It’s hard work.”

Molanders said he’s been a rapper for 13 years, and does it for the artistry more than fame.
