ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested a 17-year-old woman after she allegedly threw a rock and injured a 9-year-old child and punched a man Tuesday.
Makejasha Natalia Howard, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony injury to a child charge and a Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest charge. Her bail has been set at $1,500 for the misdemeanor charge.
Capt. Alton Lenderman with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said that ACSO deputies were dispatched out to the 600 block of Lone Star Road in reference to a disturbance on Tuesday.
A woman told the deputies that Howard, their neighbor, assaulted her husband and child.
Howard told the ACSO deputies that she threw a rock that hit the child, and then she punched the man, Lenderman said.
Lenderman said Howard also told the deputies that she got angry at someone she was talking to on the phone and walked down the road. Howard allegedly claimed that the man said, "Get out of the road, b----," so she picked up a rock and threw it at them.
The child suffered injuries to his or her left foot.
Howard told the deputies that she couldn't write a written statement for them, Lenderman.
Lenderman said Howard fought the deputies when they tried to take her into custody.
