Habitat for Humanity was proud to celebrate 20 years of service to the Angelina County community Wednesday morning.
There were prizes, raffles, and good food as the milestone with the community was recognized. They've built 19 homes for 19 families in Angelina County.
Habitat for Humanity provides homes at a discounted rate with help from the community and volunteers for labor and donation of material. The organization is most proud of being able to offer opportunities that families might have otherwise never gotten.
"It's just really cool to see families who haven't had central heating and air conditioning. To be able to provide them a safe place to raise their kids and know that they can make their family better because of our organization is what we are celebrating today," said Shelby Havard, an Angelina Co. research developer.
Habitat Humanity officials said out of the homes they've provided at discounted rates, two families have paid their mortgages off and have homes they can officially call their own.
