Angelina Co. Sheriff's Office seeking man who allegedly assaulted numerous people

ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (News Release) - The Angelina Sheriff’s County Office has obtained an arrest warrant for Jason E. Witter, white male, age 38, for assaulting a person at a residence on Crosstimbers Street in Angelina County. The assault is alleged to have occurred at least one day before it was reported to authorities.

Just before mid-night on Saturday, June 18, 2016, the Angelina Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a disturbance between parties in the 100 block of Crosstimbers Street. Deputies responded to the area but where not able to make contact with anyone at that time.

At approximately 9:39 a.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, an individual called the Sheriff’s Office and reported that they were assaulted in the 100 block of Crosstimbers by Jason Witter on June 18.  A deputy responded and completed an offense report. In addition, the victim stated that Witter had assaulted another person at the same location on June 18, but did not identify the other person at the time of the report. During this same report the witness stated that on the previous day they did not wait for deputies to arrive at the scene, but had left with an acquaintance.

At approximately 11:01 a.m., on Sunday, June 19, 2016, an individual came to the Sheriff’s Office and reported that they were one of the persons assaulted by Witter on June 18 on Crosstimbers. An offense report was completed and referred to detectives for investigation.

At approximately 11:09 a.m., on Sunday, June 19, 2016, deputies of the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request for assistance by paramedics responding to a disturbance among multiple parties on Nash Road. More than one person was injured during this incident and Jason Witter was involved in the disturbance. Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel of the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the Nash Road location and the investigation into that incident is continuing.

As some parties have proved difficult to contact, detectives are requesting that the witnesses involved in these incidents contact the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (936) 634-3331.
