Pineland PD looking for 2 men who kidnapped woman

PINELAND, TX (KTRE) - Pineland police are asking for the public's help in identifying two men who kidnapped a 24-year-old woman late Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Jeff Richardson said she was walking down FM 83 between the Pineland Public Library and West Sabine High School when two men asked if she wanted a ride. She told them no, but says the passenger jumped out and threw a heavy coat over her head and pushed her into the car.

She said they headed east on FM 83 and made a right turn. Five minutes down the road, the passenger began trying to sexually assault her but she fought back by kicking and scratching him.

Richardson said the woman was thrown out of the car with her phone, which broke. She was able to put the phone together and call 911.

Richardson said the car is a newer model four-door car. The passenger is believed to be between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with a dark complexion and is clean-cut and was wearing a white shirt and black jeans and in his 20s. The driver was older and also clean-cut.

Richardson said a volunteer fire department security camera picked up some video from the incident and a Texas Ranger has been called in to try to enhance the video and assist in the investigation.
