KENNARD, TX (KTRE) -

Houston County Constable Morris Luker and Commissioner Kennon Kellum are trying to determine why someone would steal a culvert and several road signs.

Kellum said last week, they were preparing to repair a blown-out culvert and had dropped one off near the sight.

"The land owners close to where we had the culvert called me and wanted to know if we put it in," Kellum said. "I said, 'No sir, we haven't put it in yet.' He said, 'well it is gone.'"

Kellum said another smaller culvert had been previously stolen, but they recovered it. He believes someone with heavy equipment would have been the person to do it.

"We already have a tight budget, so this does not help," Kellum said. They are stealing from the tax payer. It is not good."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Constable Luker at (936) 544-2481.
