NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A children's theater workshop has led to a full production of the play, "Willie Wonka," on the Lamp Lite theater stage in Nacogdoches.
A town's love for chocolate during a time when it's not affordable is the storyline. Johnny Depp and Gene Wilder went on to make it a movie, but Lamp-Lite players say you don't want to miss their take on the classic make believe story.
"Funny. Delightful. Outrageous. We have 27 children in it and a delightful adult cast," said Sarah McMullan, the director. "It's good for everybody. It makes you feel good."
We're giving you a bit more advance notice about this Lamp-Lite play. The children's cast attracts a lot of parents and grandparents, so tickets can go fast.
"Willie Wonka" will be performed Fridays and Saturdays on July 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7:30 in the evening. And on Sunday July 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. On Thursday, July 7 there's a $5 dress performance.
