LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested a 54-year-old man early Friday morning after the car he was riding in was pulled over for a defective brake light, and he allegedly tried to throw a crack pipe into a nearby yard.
The driver of the vehicle was also arrested for outstanding warrants.
Lorne Artis Blackshire, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a third-degree felony tamper with or fabricate evidence charge, a Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest charge, and two misdemeanor capias pro fine warrants. Collectively, his bail has been set at $2,640 for the three misdemeanor charges.
Stevelyn Aundra McCuin, 48, of Lufkin, was also arrested. He was charged with first-degree felony theft and Class B misdemeanor driving while license invalid with a previous conviction or suspension.
According to the Lufkin Police Department's daily activity report, McCuin, the driver of the car, was pulled over in the 400 block of Grove Avenue for a defective brake light at about 12:01 a.m. Friday. Blackshire allegedly refused to comply with the officers' commands and tried to throw a crack pipe into a nearby yard.
Both men were arrested at the scene and taken to the county jail.
