ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested a 35-year-old Pollok man for allegedly driving while intoxicated with a child in the car after a traffic stop on State Highway 103 West Tuesday.

Robert Wayne Adams is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a state-jail felony DWI with a child under the age of 15 in the car. No bail amount has been set at this time.

According to a DPS press release, an Angelina County DPS trooper stopped a 1984 Jeep driven by Adams for a traffic violation. The trooper noticed several signs that Adams was intoxicated, the release stated.

Adams also allegedly did poorly on the field sobriety tests.

The DPS trooper arrested Adams for DWI with a child because he had a 5-year-old child in the Jeep with him, and the child was unrestrained at the time of the traffic stop, the release stated.

The child was released into a family member’s custody, and Adams was taken to the county jail.
