Two pronounced dead at scene of Sabine County house fire

SABINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Sabine County officials have confirmed that two people are dead following a house fire near Hemphill. 

According to Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox, the fire happened in the 800th block of Vacation Lane off of FM 3315 around 4 p.m. Wednesday evening.  

Officials of Fairmont, Six Mile, and Hemphill Volunteer Fire Departments discovered two bodies in the home. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.  

The scene is currently being processed by the Sabine County Sheriff's Office, State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Texas Rangers.

Maddox said the cause of the fire is unknown, and the bodies have been sent off for autopsies.

The identities of the victims will be released upon the notification of next of kin.

Maddox hopes to have an update sometime Thursday.
