SABINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Sabine County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two people, a father and his son, who were found dead after a house fire near Hemphill late Wednesday afternoon.
Chief Deputy George Griffith with the Sabine County Sheriff said the two people who died in the fire have been identified as John W. Trammell, 56, of Hemphill, and Shawn Trammell, his 13-year-old son. He said John and Shawn Trammel were the only people in the home when the fire broke out.
Griffith said the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time because they are still waiting on the results from the investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office. The house, a mobile home, was a total loss.
According to Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox, the fire happened in the 800th block of Vacation Lane off of FM 3315 around 4 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Officials of Fairmont, Six Mile, and Hemphill Volunteer Fire Departments discovered two bodies in the home. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The scene is currently being processed by the Sabine County Sheriff's Office, State Fire Marshal's Office, and the Texas Rangers.
Maddox said the cause of the fire is unknown, and the bodies have been sent off for autopsies.
