(CNN) - Sarah Palin called the Black Lives Matter movement a “farce” on social media.

The former vice presidential candidate posted a statement on Facebook Friday in response to the deadly shootings that killed five police officers in Dallas.

Palin wrote: “Shame on politicians and pundits giving credence to thugs reacting against police officers and the rule of law in the name of “peaceful protests.”

She also said Americans who hyphenate their racial backgrounds - such as African-Americans and Asian-Americans - “further divide our nation.”

The comments come after the back-to-back shooting deaths of two black men by police.

In the statement, Palin says she sympathizes with the victims, but, “If we’re to take sides, I side with the thin blue line.”
