LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

An Angelina County grand jury indicted a Lufkin woman on July 5 in connection to allegations that she exploited a disabled woman by using her personal funds to pay her personal billing accounts in September of 2013.

Donna Showler Baker, 52, was booked in to the Angelina County Jail on Monday on a third-degree felony exploitation of a child, the elderly, or the disabled charge. She was released later that day after she posted a bail amount of $7,500.

According to the text of the indictment, the alleged exploitation occurred on or about Sept. 27, 2013 and continued through Dec. 3 of that year. The indictment alleges that Baker “for monetary or personal benefit, profit or gain, intentionally or knowingly cause the exploitation of … a disabled person by the illegal and improper use of the resources of said disabled person.”
