LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

A Livingston police officer arrested a woman for allegedly cursing and then striking her child with a closed fist, causing him to fall into a shelf at the town’s Wal-Mart on Saturday.

The woman also threatened a shopper who tried to intervene on the child’s behalf, according to the affidavit.

Patricia Wick, 26, of Onalaska, was charged with injury to a child and disorderly conduct and booked into the Polk County Jail.

Wick was shopping at the local Wal-Mart where witnesses claimed that they saw her strike her 6-year-old son with a closed fist, according to the affidavit. The report claims that the Wick struck her son with enough force to cause him to get knocked back and down into a shelf.

According to the affidavit, Wick was witnessed screaming at her child and using the word “f---“and offending the other nearby shoppers. When a female witness approached Wick and advised her that she shouldn’t be using vulgar language and striking her son, Wick allegedly became defensive.

The police report claims that Wick approached the witness, raised her hand towards her in a striking manner and called her a, “f------ b----“.

Wick has since been released on bail.
