It's almost time to tee things off for the Adams Pro Tour at Crown Colony.
Five East Texans are in contention for the title including Lufkin professionals Sam Fidone and Will Griffin. We also have professional golfer from Diboll, Wesley McClain.
Looking to put a dent in the locals’ plans of winning it all is last year's champion Blake Trimble.
The Houston native has a chance to defend the title by making the bold decision to come back and once again try to tackle the beast of Crown Colony.
The Lufkin course is no easy rite of passage. Trimble shot a 70 last year for the win and only eight players broke par.
“It's just one of those courses you're not going to go super low. You just have to grind your way across the course, make a lot of pars, make some birdies when you can, but it's tough to go real low. You obviously can but it's a really tough course. It’s probably one of the toughest ones we've played all last year and probably again this year,” said Trimble.
Trimble is going in it not expecting perfection, but knows it will once again be a battle with the East Texans who grew up with Crown Colony right in their back yard.
“It's definitely a course the more you play, the bigger advantage you have,” said Trimble. “Anyone who gets to play here, any of the local East Texas boys, I feel like they have an advantage over anyone else who doesn't get to play here as often.”
The tournament tees off Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. Trimble will tee off at 12:40 on Hole 10.
As for the East Texans, Griffin tees off at 9:30 a.m. at Hole 1. Fidone will be at Hole 1 starting at 12:30 p.m. McClain will be at Hole 10 at 9:30 a.m. Nacogdoches’, Stetson McMillan will begin at Hole 1 starting at 1:50 p.m.
