First woman named police chief in Angelina County set to take over in Zavalla

ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - The Zavalla city council has approved hiring a woman to be the first female police chief in Angelina County.

Stefani Wade will take the job starting on Friday.

Wade previously served as an officer for the city. She takes over for Steve Drumm, who resigned the position to take a teaching job.

Wade started her law enforcement career in 2004 as an officer in Onalaska. She then went to work at the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Office of the Inspector General, Polk County Pct. 3 Constable, Tyler County Sheriff's Office and the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
