Round 1 of Crown Colony’s 2016 Adams Pro Tour started Wednesday morning. The tour hosted 115 professional golfers and six amateurs. Crown Colony was also the backdrop where five East Texans competed for the title.
Lufkin native, Sam Fidone, end day one with a third place finish. On the challenging course, Fidone wrapped up shooting 2-under par. Fidone is currently two strokes behind the leader, Myles Lewis, who shot a 68.
The next East Texan in the standings is Nacogdoches’ Stetson McMillan. McMillan is currently tied for 18th after finishing 1-over par.
Fidone’s former high school teammate, Will Griffin, had a decent first-day showing. Griffin shot a 75 on the familiar greens.
Tied for 45th is Diboll native, Wesley McClain, and Lufkin amateur, Tyler Dunbar. Both finished 4-over par with a 76.
Round 2 tees off Thursday morning at 8 a.m. It’s also cut-day for the tour. The top 35% will move on to the final rounds and there is a 50 player maximum.
