Forestry Law

The East Texas forest industry is not immune from lawsuits. That's why so many foresters turned out for a Forestry Law Seminar in Nacogdoches.

Forestry attorney Gee Ogletree said, "You have lawsuits on property where they cut timber that they don't own. You have lawsuits where people are hurt on property that is sued for forestry. Lawsuits on folks who are hired to plant seedlings and in fact there may be some violation of a federal law dealing with those planting contractors."

A forestry law team says litigation is not on the rise, but is usually something property owners can prevent if they 'stay informed' about the laws.
