ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Three people were taken to a Lufkin hospital for treatment of possible injuries and a horse died in an accident on State Highway 103 West Tuesday involving four vehicles.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the preliminary crash investigation shows that a 2013 Ford passenger car driven by Ashli Baldridge, 32, of Lufkin, was stopped on SH 103 waiting to turn let on Joshua Lane when it was hit from behind by a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Cody Lane Wright, 21, of Lufkin.
The pickup was towing a livestock trailer.
After the initial collision, both the Ford and the Dodge pickup crossed over into the eastbound lanes of SH 103 and into the path of oncoming traffic, the press release stated. Then the Dodge truck and trailer were struck by an eastbound 2003 Mack dump truck driven by Elizabeth Albro, 51, of Livingston.
As a result of the impact, a tire from the Dodge's trailer broke away and struck a 2011 Chevrolet truck driven Eric Brevard, 34, of Lufkin.
Baldridge, her small child, and Albro were all taken to CHI St. Luke's Memorial in Lufkin for treatment of possible injuries. Neither Wright nor Brevard were injured in the crash.
The horse didn't survive the wreck, the press release stated.
The wreck is still under investigation at this time.
