LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Kurth Animal Shelter has the perfect dose of Honey for potential pet owners in the area.

The sweet-natured pup is a one year, eight month old cur dog mix that has a gentle personality and is very well mannered and is looking for a second chance.

Aaron Ramsey, director of the Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter says she was adopted once, but unfortunately it just wasn’t a good fit.

“She was a stray that came into the shelter. She was actually adopted out once, went to a home and was returned. The previous owner just lived in an apartment and Honey really needs to go probably to a home where they have a large yard or area to run.”  Ramsey said.

Honey has been back at the shelter for a few months now and is once again looking for her perfect forever home. Her docile and loving spirit makes her a perfect match for any family with kids. And she loves to play.

Ramsey encourages people to come out and meet Honey at this Saturday’s second annual Night Howls Pet Adoption event. All pet adoption fees will be waived that day.

Honey’s calm nature and presence makes her a perfect fit for anyone in the market for a new pet.  She is also very docile for her young age.

“At a year and eight months old a lot of dogs still have a lot of puppy left in them, but she’s pretty mild mannered. She’s not going to jump on you or be too aggressive.”  Ramsey said.

The shelter is really hoping to get Honey adopted with a new family that can ultimately appreciate her as soon as Saturday during their adoption event.

“We encourage people to come out. That’s a great time to meet Honey. And it would be a great day for her to find a new family.” Ramsey said.

The Community Food Drive in Lufkin is special to some because of the large amount of people it brings together from all walks of life.  "It's just like so many different people, very diverse," said volunteer, Priscilla Gonzalez. "It's just kind of cool to see all these people coming together to do one thing." For others, like Keith Kennedy, it's all about the service being provided to the greater community. "They're in miracle territory,...More >>
