HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Houston Texans' JJ Watt underwent back surgery on Wednesday. This is Watt's second surgery in six months.
The timing of Watt's surgery is poor. He will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list and will miss the preseason.
The three-time defensive player of the year has never missed a regular season game in his five-year career. This surgery puts him in jeopardy of ending that streak.
Last season, Watt played with a broken hand, a herniated disk, and started rehabbing in January for five torn core-area muscles.
