POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Livingston Police Department arrested a 22-year-old man Friday on an intoxicated manslaughter charge in connection to allegations that he was driving a motorcycle when he was involved in an accident that resulted in a woman's death.
David Carl Smith, of Livingston, is still being held in the Polk County Jail on a felony intoxication manslaughter charge, and five misdemeanor charges - speeding, violating a promise to appear, public intoxication, and two capias pro-fines. His bail amount has been set at $15,000 for the intoxicated manslaughter charge.
Trooper David Hendry with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that Smith was the driver of the motorcycle that was involved in the fatal crash in February that claimed the life of 33-year-old Michelle Hunt, of Livingston.
Smith's motorcycle crashed into the back of a car on State Highway 19 just outside of Trinity.
Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, and Smith was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
