LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - In the wake of a one-vehicle wreck on Loop 287 in Lufkin Monday night, the inside northbound lane of John Redditt Drive will be closed most of today while a hazmat team continues its cleanup, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
"Masters Advance Remediation Services in Huffman, Texas will work inside the closure as TxDOT officials monitor traffic through the lane closure for about the next four hours," said Rhonda Oaks, a spokeswoman for TxDOT. "Motorists should be prepared for delays on the north loop. Reduce speed or plan ahead to take alternate routes during this time."
The accident occurred around 8 p.m. Monday night. The 18-wheeler went over. As a result both northbound lanes and one southbound lane on Loop 287 were blocked, and drivers were being diverted to the service lanes.
The hazmat crews have been working to clear the diesel that spilled from the wrecked 18 wheeler.
