HOUSTON, TX (KTRE) - The Houston Astros had some East Texas flavor in their opening ceremony Monday night for their game against the New York Yankees. The First Baptist Church Nacogdoches was welcomed to sing the national anthem before the game.
The church traveled 66 of their choir members to sing The Star Spangled Banner. The choir is under the direction of Andre Simon.
After their performance, a round of applause echoed in the stadium for the Nacogdoches' church and the group was able to take a seat and enjoy the game.
The First Baptist Church Nacogdoches were able to see highly anticipated prospect Alex Bregman make his debut in the Astros' starting lineup at third base. Houston ended up losing to the Yankees 2-1.
