LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

The Kurth Memorial Animal Shelter received a very generous donation this morning from Master Olford’s American Taekwondo Association.

The large donation will go to aid the welfare of the dogs and cats at the local shelter.

Shelter Director, Aaron Ramsey said that they are very grateful for the contribution.

“We’re just overwhelmed by the donation. Every time we see local businesses take an interest in animal welfare we get very excited.” Ramsey said.

The wide variety of donation items included dog food, cat food, kitty litter, play toys and cleaning supplies.

TJ Martinez, a member of the taekwondo association who contributed to the donation said that it was pleasure to give back.

"We love animals and kitty cats, you know, and we want to make sure that we can help out any way that we can. We know that this is the shelter where sometimes they don't get adopted and we want to make sure that we can help and they can live as long as they can and with the best life that they can."  Martinez said.

The shelter says that they always accept generous donations and that every little bit helps.
