Zavalla PD chief: Man on federal supervised release threatened 'suicide by cop'

ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - Officers with the Zavalla Police Department arrested a 47-year-old man who was already on federal supervised release because he allegedly made threats against law enforcement Friday morning.

Zavalla Police Chief Stefani Wade said that Troy Dale Wilson, of Zavalla, was arrested as a result of a team effort between the Zavalla Police Department and Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force.

Wade said that Wilson made mention of "suicide by cop" and added that Wilson had been on federal supervised release after serving 235 days in a federal prison. She said they received a tip that Wilson made the threats after a recent arrest in Angelina County and that he said he wasn't going back to prison, no matter what he had to do to make sure of it.

Wilson was arrested at a home in the 300 block of Johnson Street in Zavalla at about 7:45 a.m. Friday for violating the conditions of his federal supervised release, Wade said. No one was injured when law enforcement officers served the arrest warrant.

Wade said more state charges could be pending against Wilson for the alleged threats he made against police officers.
