The case investigators need help with this week occurred June 25 at Boot Barn in Lufkin and involves a man exchanging his tennis shoes for a pair of boots and walking out of the store without paying.

The thief is a white male with short, gray hair and tattoos covering his right forearm. He took a pair of brown and green, size 13 Twisted X brand boots; the boot shafts are green with stitched crosses. The shoes he wore to the store and left behind are gray Nike tennis shoes.

The cost of the boots makes this theft punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine up to $2,000. If, however, the thief has prior theft convictions, the offense could be punished as a state-jail felony offense with up to two years in a state jail facility and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
