Don't Get Caught With A Flat

by Jessica Cervantez

By paying close attention to your tires, you can avoid ending up at the repair shop. Experts recommend checking your air pressure once a month, and checking your tire tread often.

Ronny Dupree, of Dupree Tires, said, "Sometimes they see the outside edge is good, but the center was wore out, and sometimes if you have a tire, and it has tread in the middle but no tread on the outside or the inside, you can hydroplane very easy."

Experts say there is one big mistake you can make.

Dupree said, "People just don't look at them and they run them under inflated. During that point in time the car becomes very sensitive."

Tire sellers have also noticed something you might find surprising. Men often pay less attention to their tires than women.

"Women will actually take notice, they want to be educated, and they will actually ask more questions nowadays," Dupree said.

With summer getting closer, you not only want to make sure you have good tread on your tires. It's also a good idea to have maintenance done on your whole vehicle. The more attention you pay to your vehicle, the safer you will be when you hit the road.

Tire experts say you should get your tires rotated every 5,000 miles.
