Retired Rodeo Clown Visits Lufkin

The Angelina Benefit Rodeo doesn't start until Wednesday, but a famous rodeo clown is already in town to kick things off.

Quail Dobbs spent part of the day with the Lufkin Host Lions Club.  The group talked about some of the fun things you can expect at this year's rodeo, including the new rodeo replay screen sponsored by KTRE.

Dobbs spent 35 years as a clown in rodeos across the country.  He first performed with the Angelina Benefit Rodeo in 1970.

The retired performer is now a justice of the peace, but he still has plenty of fond memories of his days on the rodeo circuit.

The Angelina Benefit Rodeo kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the expo center in Lufkin.
