NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Nacogdoches Animal Shelter has a Colt classic for animal lovers looking to adopt.

Colt is a male Shepherd Labrador mix that’s a little over a year old. He’s very calm, energetic and he also has a curious personality.

Colt came in as a stray in early June and has yet to find his perfect forever family.

Nacogdoches Animal Patrol Officer Steven Bryant said that Colt has been garnering people’s attention but unfortunately is still at the shelter.

“He’s been out here for a while; people take him out a lot. We have a lot of adults and children out here and we haven’t seen any kind of problems. He probably needs a good little boy or a good little girl to take care of him.” Bryant said.

The young pup also loves to wander and explore, so a home with a big open backyard or somewhere where he can get plenty of exercise would be the perfect setting for him.

He also has a resilient spirit after recovering from a previous yet unknown injury.

“If you notice his front foreleg, he’s kind of got a bend to it. It’s like an old injury at some point, that occurred at some point. He still gets around fine on it.” Bryant said.

Colt has been at the shelter for two months, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying to warm the hearts of potential adoptive families.

Colt is very sweet and playful and he’s great with other dogs. The shelter believes that he will make a great addition to any family with kids.

And for those looking to expand their canine families, Colt also gets along and plays well with other dogs

If you interested in adopting Colt, please contact the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter. They’re open Monday through Friday from 12 to 5:30 p.m.  Saturday’s from 11 to 3 p.m.  and closed on Sundays.
