LUFKIN, TEXAS (News Release) - Crime Stoppers has profiled some surprising cases but this one might top them all.
Independence Day, while most of us were enjoying time with family and friends and watching fireworks displays, a vehicle burglar struck at Lufkin Police Department. Video from downtown shows an unidentified black male suspect hanging around the Lufkin Municipal Court building at 10:20 PM and a few minutes later walking to the parking lot behind the Police Department.
A police officer's personal vehicle was in that parking lot and guns and money were stolen from it. The burglar took some coins and two pistols, a Colt Detective Special .38-caliber revolver and a Glock model 32 .357-caliber semi-auto.
Video of the suspect is posted at www.facebook.com/DETCS. The suspect's face is not visible on video but his profile is and that might be enough for someone to identify him, particularly if he's shown anyone the guns or bragged about his crime. He appears to be tall and thin and his hair was short. He was wearing a white t-shirt, blue pants, and light-colored tennis shoes.
If you can identify the person responsible for this crime or know the location of the stolen guns, call Deep East Texas Crime Stoppers at (936) 639-TIPS or submit a tip through our updated website at www.639TIPS.com. Crime Stoppers calls and tips are anonymous and the first, most accurate tip that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
