With recent layoffs at GE and other job loss in the economy a new business has helped provide more jobs in the area.
Luftex manufacturing and services is a new business in the city of Lufkin that had quite a nice turnout for its grand opening reveal.
What started out as a big dream 12 years ago, has now made Luftex a reality for two East Texas locals.
The new local business focuses on the manufacturing of industrial gearboxes. The idea for the company started back in 2003 and finally started to come together last year.
Luftex has now helped to employ 15 full time workers with plans of growing gradually in the future.
Albert Stoklay the Vice President of Sales and Services for Luftex said it couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We’re going to supply some good jobs for the local people here, and it’ll really bring some manufacturing stuff back into the community.” Stoklay said.
People turned out for the grand opening to get a tour of new facility and meet the employees who helped bring this vision to life. Food and drinks were also provided to those who came out during the warm afternoon.
Vice President of engineering and operations at Luftex Scott Franks couldn’t believe this day had finally come.
“It’s surreal it really is, to imagine what’s actually occurred in the last year.” Franks said.
The new business also has some long term goals as they look toward the future, with the hope of being able to double the amount of employees on staff to fifty or sixty workers within the next five to six years.
“The communications we’re getting back from customers we think the opportunity to grow faster than what we predicted in our business plan is definitely out there.” Franks said.
