ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Angelina County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 46-year-old man in connection to allegations that he started acting irrational and irate before he punched a deputy in the throat Tuesday night.

Johnny A. Tobias Jr. is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a third-degree felony assault of a public servant charge, a Class A misdemeanor resisting arrest charge, and a Class A misdemeanor failure to identify charge. His bail amount has been set at $2,000 for the two misdemeanor charges.

According to the ACSO’s daily activity report, the alleged assault happened at about 9:43 p.m. Tuesday night in the 900 block of Fenley Flat Road. When ACSO deputies went to check out a possible deadly conduct incident, they went to talk to Tobias.

At that point, he became “very irate” and started acting irrational, the report stated. Then Tobias punched one of the deputies in the throat.

The ACSO deputies used a Taser on Tobias and took him into custody without any further incident, the report stated.
